Hi Everyone,

Long time lurker, first time poster,  :)

I am relatively new to cake decorating, have only made a few cakes that have not been spectacular failures, (added a couple of photos to my profile if you feel like a looksee)

This weekend i am making quite a large caramel mud cake (using the bakels caramel mud mix here in Oz)

Can anyone recommend a good Caramel buttercream or ganache recipe that would be nice with a caramel mud,

I am also doing a second smaller tier in white choc mud and will be using white choc ganache for this

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks alot :D

This recipe is excellent. You could add godiva caramel liqueur to put it over the top!

Also, you could buy caramel  in a jar (I would get a fairly thick, good homemade type made with butter, sugar and cream). If needed, melt slightly and cool.  Gradually add to finished plain vanilla buttercream.  I have done this many times with SMBC.  I don't know if it would work with ABC - may be way too sweet.

You could also  add homemade caramel or good caramel in a jar to chocolate SMBC or ganache.  Gradually mix into the finished frosting until you get the desired balance of flavors.  Chocolate and caramel are a great combo.
