Ginn...being a party planner I'm all about the details...what the decorations looked like, the general party look, and, of course, how happy the birthday boy was with his cake!  Thanx!

Ok, gotta catch up here,

Smitty...that is gorgeous!

Sixinarow, love the flowers on the cupcakes!

BatterUp, I use my squatter stands more than the one really tall one that I have. I love that you got a thank you note! Those are so rare and SO precious!

My week is chuggin along. I made the pieces for the propane tank before I baked the cakes...then found out they were too small so I had to make them again! Hope the whole week doesn't go this way! LOL!

My son starts 7th grade Thursday, his first year in Middle School, so life is revolving around that this week. Tomorrow is our play day. Taking him out to lunch, a movie (Dirty Dancing on the Big Screen!) and then the rest of his school supply shopping.

Other than that I jumped off the diving board again and have submitted 10 photos for Conde Naste Travelers Dream Vacation contest. If anyone is interested just to go http://www.cntraveler.com/dreamtrip and then type in catlharper (don't forget the "l" in between the cat and harper) in the filter to come up with my photos. I do this every year and keep hoping that one day I'll win! LOL!

BATTER UP, That is why we all bake, that and the hugs and smiles we get when they see their cake.

Cat I can send you the pic of him with his cake.  That I do have.  Will pm it to you.

I have 4 cakes coming up this week, so I've already started working on cakes.  I am still looking for someone to help.  Every time someone says they want the job, for some reason they back out.  Better for me at that point so I can find the right person, training is hard on oneself.

ANot a fan of this one. It looks like a stand on a stand.

I do like the bottom part (under the ribbon).

I'd like it better if it was the same stand top and bottom with the separation in between.  And monochromatic.

Thanks...It actually is a very similar leaf design. Hard to tell since it is not painted yet. I think a big problem is the area the ribbon goes into is too deep. And I shouldn't have used an intricate design on top. But I really didn't know what it would look like until it was all put together. I love having a place to get honest feedback from people in the industry. I really hope you all don't mind helping me out or me posting here. I have too much time and money in it to just scrap it so I will try to fix it and sell on Ebay but not under my business name. Going to paint it white instead of pink too. Makes it more universal. Thank you!

Ok...I have decided to cut it and make it into 2 stands without the bling. I think I will leave the bottom one pink????? And do the top in white or black.....

BatterUp: Ok, here's my feedback. I LOVE the leaf design on the stand but you are right they are two stands. Now they could stay just blocks or you could add a small pedestal stand to it. I also would love to see it in just a wood sealed version. The edge on these is that they are wood, not ceramic or metal of any sort. For the two that you have right now I think I'd leave the pink one just flat and add a stand to the top one. As of right now the only "block" type stands for cakes are the silver ones and I have to say, I really hate them. A beautiful stained wood block stand would be just gorgeous!

Yes,  I agree with Cat.  I think I would also like it with some feet to lift it a bit more.  Maybe some claw feet especially stained wood.  Call me old fashion, I just love those of tables.

WellI used paint grade wood on these so I can't add a pedestal but will keep that in mind for future projects. I am adding some feet to the top one....JWinslow received her stand today and is thrilled with it

Claw feet are SO cool. ;)

I like the bottom also, but I like your solid wood stands better. I would love to see a rustic wood pedestal like Cat suggested...although my budget can afford none of your stands right now!! icon_cry.gif

Ok...the bottom half got messed up when I was sawing them apart...This is what I am going with the top half. Gonna paint black or white then put on Etsy. Better?

Sorry I was posting to page 4 lol when my page refreshed and showed me I was behind!!!  I was commenting on the lovely note you got from your customer Batterup.

As for the stand yes I agree it needs some claw feet. I also would only paint them in white or a different shade of pink. I think that pink is not traditional and your stands are so it conflicts and takes the quality down. Like a true pastel pink very light.  The details are amazing though.

the whole thing needs to be painted...It's going to be white or black. I'm going to woodcrafts to see if they have clawfeet. Stuff like that really bumps the price up but I am not a huge fan of these feet either.Righht now I am playing around with the plateaus to see what I can come up with that I will be proud to put my business name on. All of the ones I'm not 100% happy with will be sold but not under my business name.....probably on etsy or Ebay.

Wasn't that thank you note the sweetest thing?

Whew...I finally tracked down claw feet and they are $30 A PIECE!!!

Holy Crap! $30 A PIECE!!! Ok, for that I can do without claw feet! LOL! Look around for knobs or something you can screw in. Think "cabinet pulls" at the hardware store and find some that will work. In fact, just got a gorgeous idea..follow me here...square wood, leaves detail, painted white. Blue and white enamel "pulls" for feet. Beautiful! Very "Greece". Make those yellow, white and blue pulls and you have "France". VERY pretty! Just "spitballing" out there for you! LOL!

They are made for furniture and are a solid block of wood. Absolutely
