AI'm doing a cake and cupcakes for an Alice in Wonderland birthday party. I have dried royal icing roses that I would like to look like they've been started to be painted red. Just the tops with a little dripping down the side. I've tried gel food coloring and vodka but am not getting the effect I want. Maybe something bolder with a thicker consistency. Any ideas?

ATry red gel coloring mixed into piping gel. I think it's thick enough that it won't ruin the royal icing.
