AI've been looking at tons of topsy turvy cakes and have noticed some seem to have inwardly (is that a word?) angled sides while others appear to be straight. Is one better than the other? Anyone have experience with both? I assumed the angle wouldn't matter so much as long as the structure was properly supported.

The angled in sides is more difficult to do, but I think it's important. As I don't care for the topsy t cakes with straight sides, they aren't charming imo.

Oh, and yes, the angled sides have nothing to do with the support with-in the cake.

AThe angled sides definitely give the illusion of being more unstable. I think I prefer that look. Thanks.

I really can't stand the straight sided topsy turvys, they just look weird. I learned how to do the real madhatters with a Planet cake instructor, and the tapered sides and severe slants are where it's at as far as I'm concerned. Majorly a LOT of hard work, but those are the true topsy turvies. Straight sided cakes with chunks hacked off the top....just look odd.
