I don't think this is a cake disaster, but I didn't know where else to post it. I charged $50 for a pregnant belly cake iced in fondant & decorated with polka dots, ribbon, & a bow. I used the wilton ball pan for the belly & the mini wonder mold pan for the boobs. I just got a complaint from the customer... she said the cake was way smaller than she expected & she told me that she thinks $50 is too high. I told her the cake was very small before she placed the order. What do you charge for your pregnant belly cakes?

Can you post a picture?  And no right off $50 for a cake like that is not too much...how many servings was she expecting?  Maybe she should have ordered cupcakes or something to go with it?

Live and learn... The way to avoid this issue is to tell them the number of servings and exact dimensions. When I say tell, I mean put it in writing in an email. For this one, I would have measured the ball pans and let her know what the diameters would be at the bases. That doesn't mean she still won't whine, but you'll have peace of mind knowing you did everything possible to let her know the size of the cake.

Also, I have a minimum price of $150 and that weeds out a certain type of difficult customer.

Thank y'all!  I don't have a photo of it since my camera broke, but it was white (like a long dress) with multi colored polka dots all over, ribbon borders & a bow under the boob area. I told her it wouldn't feed many, maybe 12 or so with small slices. I even offered to put it on a larger cake. I told her it would be small & she said she was going to make cupcakes too so she said the size was fine. Now she's complaining about the price/cake too small after she picks it up. I don't understand some people. Next time I will measure the cake & give the exact dimensions too.
