Hi everyone! I've got a bride asking for this cake and I have no idea what was used to make a border on the second and third tiers, searched through many online stores to find something similar and no luck. Please if you know what was used could you please help out with advice? Thank you!

To me it looks like they have used gumpaste in a Gems mould - using tear drop shapes and oval shapes to get the pattern. You can dust/paint with luster to get a shiny effect. They appear to have used sugar pearls or piped royal icing for the round dots also.

I'd say it definately is a mold but I have no idea which one.

I think any gem mould would have the right shapes...just find the right sizes you need. Try First IMpressions, or CK moulds.

They could also be RI piped, either directly on the cake or on a sheet of paper and left to dry, maybe painted with pearl lustre dust. You could then choose the good ones to stick onto the cake. I think the round pearls are bought dragees.

After blowing the pic up I think Dayli might be right.  It does NOT look like a mold but like each section has been piped of royal (off the cake on plastic wrap) then applied to the cake.

Hello Everybody!

Just remembered I never posted a picture of the cake with ruffles and those "secret" borders :-) I ended up using a mold for jewels, thank you Evoir for the tip!!!

Thank you! Too bad the bride wanted her colours, not the original ones. :-)
