AI'm contemplating making some filled cupcakes for a picnic. I was thinking lemon cake with a strawberry cream cheese filling. However, I'm a little torn on the frosting!! Should I go with lemon or strawberry frosting? I'm worried the lemon would make them too lemon-y, but also thinking that the strawberry would make the filling a little pointless. I appreciate your thoughts on this!! :)

You can't go wrong with a nice vanilla buttercream to bridge the flavors.  However, you could top them with some fresh berries and candied lemon peel.

I've made a strawberry cupcake with a lemon filling and I just used a vanilla buttercream.  It brought out the flavor of the strawberry and lemon wonderfully! I also garnished with strawberry halves!

While strawberry and lemon sound yummy, I am partial to rasberry and lemon together.  You could do a nice white chocolate frosting.
