AOk so my little nephews 4th birthday is coming up soon and his mom is throwing a super mario party. She might ask me to do the cake ( I hope she asks me to make the cake lol). All of the mario cakes I have seen are the blue back ground with elements from the scroll game up front. I think they are really neat but I am trying to think of something different yet simple, that isn't the typical screen from the game or marios face/body.

I read your post, I guess I'm not sure what you like and dislike about the cakes you've seen. I'm doing a Mario Kart groom's cake in a couple weeks and have a few cakes tagged for different elements on them that I would be glad to share, but I don't know if they're what you're looking for.

AOh i love most of the mario cakes that I have seen! They are wonderful. I wasbjust wondering if there was a different way to approach ot that I haven't thought of. A friend of mine recently made a mario cake with the screen and blu e back ground and I just don't want her to think that I was copying her (even though I know she wouldn't mind and even though it is a pretty common design). If I were going to make a tier cake maybe I might do 1st tier green pipe, 2nd tier yellow box, third tier mushroom, rkt bomomb tilted to the side (im sure its been done before, but who knows?. But I only need to make a one tier cake lol .

Ahttp://sugarsweetcakesandtreats.blogspot.com/2010/08/super-mario-bros-cake.html

This cake by Angela is simple but very clean and detailed, which I love! If you decide to go with a smaller cake. I love it because it plays homage to the original Nintendo game!

If you do want to make something a bit more extreme (but don't need to feed hundreds of people) you could make a regular cake, tiered with a cake dummy, and molded RKT or more styrofoam for your mushroom and bombom (or a different variation). That way you get to pad your portfolio, get the look you want without having tons of extra cake, and you get to make your nephew an extreme cake!

Also, (I'm sure you'd do this anyway) but if you end up using a lot of elements from a certain cake it would be nice to ask their permission/give credit to their designs. I know it's difficult with cakes like these because they've been done almost every way imaginable lol. Definitely a cool theme! Post pics when your done!

AI know you can't always give credit! Sometimes the pics have been repinned or remade so many different times you can't possible know the original designer! Those are all really nice cakes! I would just start by googling super Mario cakes and check out the images it's a great way to get ideas!
