Cake that looks like butter

I have tried searching but am coming up empty...

I have someone that wants a cake that looks like a stick of butter.  I cannot find a picture of a cake like this anywhere out there.  Usually I try Google or Pintrest but that's not working.  I'm sure someone has made one before, right?

Any help someone can give is greatly appreciated!

That sounds like a real challenge. I have a visual in my mind of a yellow gold brick! With that in mind, perhaps you could make it look more like butter by cutting off a pat of butter, laying it on an angle and constructing a large butter knife of gum paste inserted between the stick and the pat? Perhaps that could help carry the  illusion.

Good luck!

If you have knowledge, let others light their candles on it.

Never fear shadows. They simply mean there's a light shining somewhere nearby.

that sounds pretty good. The one thing I might suggest to expand on that is to make a butter dish maybe even with the "lid off to the side.

When I get unusual orders, I will look up other cakes to see what has been done but I also Google the live image itself. What will make your cakes stand out is putting your own spin on the subject and figuring ways to do what you haven't see done. Good luck and post pics!

Thank you for these suggestions!

I had also been thinking about the pat of butter but hadn't thought about the knife.

I was also thinking maybe having the back half look like it was still in the wrapper?

That would probably depend on how you lay it all out. One of the most important elements of design is movement. You want the butter stick/pat/knife to be layed out in such a way that it makes your eyes move. If the wrapper would stop that movement then don't use it if you don't think it is necessary to showing what the cake is supposed to be. Just my opinion of couse and also going by the "less is more" model.
