Definition Between cake tiers

Hi, I am making a wedding cake for 150 people and would like to make each layer have definition. I am thinking of making the bottom layer a square and the rest circular. I was wondering if any one knows if a 4inch, 8inch 10inch round and a 12inch square stacked cake would have definition between the layers??

Are they 4" tall tiers?  What do you mean by definition?  (will it be noticeable that tiers are gradually smaller in diameter?)

(btw, this won't serve 150, if typical height.)

The tiers should be 3" tall. Yes i would like the layers to get distinctively smaller.
I think maybe the square cake will be a 14" if it fits in my oven.

The standard height of a cake tier is 4".

Serves 135 as original configured without the 4" on top.

if you have a standard size oven 14" will be no problem...3" are not standard so your serving sizes will be smaller or you will have to cut bigger slices. Have you looked at Wiltons charts?
