I know this has probably been talked to death but here goes anyway.  I have a really blingy wedding cake coming up that will have about 150 to 200 edible diamonds, rhinestone ribbon with clear stones, rhinestone brooches and rhinestone monogram.  I have never worked with edible diamonds and can't afford to screw this up.  The cake picture the bride gave me the diamonds look very shiny and more like rhinestones than the clear edible sugar kind.  How can I get them to look more realistic and not just like glass gobs?  How well do they hold up on buttercream icing?  How long in advance can I apply them?

I'm ordering them from www.diamondpartyconfetti.com.  Has anyone ordered from them before?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

Lynn

Does anyone have the name of any other cake sites that I could possibly get help with my question about edible diamonds?

I used them on this cake...painted them with veg oil and they were on the buttercream frosted cake for over 6 hours. They didn't seem to be that blingy in real life, but the flash from the camera really made them show up.  I ordered mine from Kitchen Krafts, located in Iowa.  Nice people to work with!   Good luck to you!
