A friend of mine wants me to do her wedding cake and she sent me this picture.  She likes the monogram and accents beside it.  How was that done?  They can't be edible, can they?  They almost look like the premade ones you buy for like scrapbooking.  Any ideas?

AAll of the accents.appear to be those scrapbook things you peel off of the paper backing and stick on. So no, not edible, and certainly not meant to be applied to food.

If you used them, you'd have to make sure that the fondant was removed before the cake was served.

AOy. That is way too much tacky inedible crap on one cake.

I would never put that stuff on a cake, but if you do you have to be absolutely certain that all the fondant, together with the inedible crap, is removed before serving.

Maybe put the monogram on an additional plaque of fondant so it is easier for the serving staff to peel off.  Or show your friends some monograms done in Royal, and then you could paint with silver hi liter.
