Help ! Quilting on fondant

I will be making this cake . I've seen many ways to quilt but all of them seem to not come out looking like the photo. I would like a nice fluffy pillow look to each diamond.

I found a diamond 3 in a row quilter but The diamonds are very narrow and In the photo there more boxed shaped.
Any advice ? Should I buy the quilter since its a guarantee that the cake would like similar

I made this cake a few weeks back. I used a plastic diamond imprint mat and a fondant smoother to mark the lines, and then went over them lightly with a fondant cutting wheel to make the lines deeper. For a puffier look, roll your fondant a bit thicker. You can press into in deeper with the cutter without cutting all the way through, and it will look more cushiony. The picture you uploaded looks like the cake is slightly airbrushed in spots to exaggerate the puffy look. As for the shape of your diamond cutter/imprint mat, Amazon has a few different ones to choose from. That's where I got mine.

I did the bottom tier of this cake the exact same way that mpatko described. I used a diamond impression mat first then went over it with my cutting/ quilting wheel to make them more pronounced.

With thicker fondant and a thicker layer of buttercream under it they could have been more ' pillowy"

Very quick and easy.AppleMark

Use lots of buttercream under your fondant, and then cover it in plastic wrap before you make your lines. You will got "pillowy" instead of sharp lines this way. I have used a ruler instead of any type of cutter/marker and it works just fine.
