Hello All,

I will be making a cake covered in black fondant. I don't want to color it myself so I am looking for the best Tasting black fondant.  Not worried about cost but taste is really important.  What do you use or combine to make the best tasting black fondant.  Thank you in advance.

FondX and Duff's/Fondarific all taste great.  They also tend to be on the softer side so I like to mix them with a firmer fondant like Satin Ice or Wilton.  They're so saturated with color, too, that even if I only have white Satin Ice or Wilton, they stay very black.

My favorite trick to us for this is to buy Chocolate fondant and use my Wilton colors to dye it Black. Tastes like tootsie-rolls

Thank you much!  I like both ideas.

I have a few black cakes to do over the next couple of months so I think I will experiment with both your ideas to see what works best for the very picky palates I am doing this for :)
