What Is This Called And How Is It Done?

Looks like 4 petalled flowers out of fondant, creating the circle type pattern with pearls at the center of each flower.

Or else just take a circle cutter the size you want, cut out a circle, fold into quarters, use the same cutter to cut each quarter again to form the petal shape, then place four of them with the points together to form the shape on the cake.
I don't think you'll find a cutter. I've looked.
You might have to do what LizzieAylett says. Cut a circle, mark or fold into quarters, then use the same cutter to cut off the shape.

It looks like it's a quilting design thing.

Holy Cow, I've never seen those before........that's a great invention! Kvand please post your experiences using them. Were they expensive?
AOrdered 5 different ones and expressed them. Can't wait to try them. Dominic is going to be one rich man!
I ordered quite a few as well. I hope they are as easy as they look! Pretty darn excited. They are supposed to arrive early next week. eeek! I will post a review once I get to use them.
If the mold works as well as it looks like it will the time savings will be enough to cover the cost of the mold in just one cake. after all, time is money :)
Not sure. Probably not; I would use it to make an imprint on buttercream if I needed to. Dominic is here at CC, too. This is his profile. You could message him.

I dunno, I'm kinda skeptical...I watched the video but it was edited....one second it showed him starting to apply it but did not show it ACTUALLY coming out... and then it was done. Is it THAT easy to get out?? Did it break??
AThe video shows you can use it to put fondant on a bc cake if that's what you mean. Just make sure the buttercream is really firm (cold) before applying.
Really kvand? I have to say I haven't watched the videos. No time yet. That would be great.

The thing about molds like that is that you're either stuck with the one size or you will have to spend a lot if they offer multiple molds in various sizes. Using the circle cutter method allows you to size it right for the cake you're working on. One baker's standard height for a cake may not be another's.
The molds are time saving but they do have their cons.
