Hi, does anyone know of a good source for an all-purpose petal veiner in the UK?  I don't want to have to buy several different styles, as I don;t really make many gumpaste flowers.  However, the cheapest all-purpose veiner I could find cost about £16 from Amazon.  Are there any better UK suppliers?  Or another way I could vein my petals?  Thanks!

Try here: https://www.sugaricing.com/ProductPage.aspx?productGuid=e3eb2033-6320-47af-a57f-7d1e1d649cca&allowAddToBasket=True This set will do various types of petals and leaves. Have a look on their site for other options, they are very reasonably priced.

You may have checked already, but you could also try eBay.

You can use a dried corn husk leaf (the green outer covering of a corn cob)...I still use these for some flowers/leaves I make. Costs nothing (if you're already eating the corn!)

the inside of a coconut shell works ok too :-)

You could try making your own with homemade airdrying clay and just press leaves into it (the oven-bake clays will distort the delicate veins - dont use fimo its not foodsafe) Homemade clay recipes: http://www.homeschooling-ideas.com/how-to-make-clay.html#airhardening

...I've not tried the clay but might give it a shot at the weekend :-)

get onto ebay ...i have just bought a heap of cake decorating tools and cutters and moulds all for a lot less than any cake decorating store i have ever been to, i did see a universal  corn husk veiner floating around in ebay...you just might have to wait for postage as they sometimes take upto 20 days but that is not too bad considering some of them dont charge for postage......i bought a set of sled cutters for christmas cost me $2.50 with free postage...cant beat that anywhere else
