Someone asked me to do a tattoo cake and she wants it all hand painted onto the cake and these two cakes are what she likes best. I can definitely do it but how do I go about stenciling the picture onto the cake first and I don't even know how to price something like this, this will probably easily take about 60-70 man hours... And I probably won't be able to do any other cakes that week... Help please!!

AI would find out what their budget is first to see if it's even realistic, you're probably looking at around $1500.

That is not a stencil, it is free hand.

I just thought you should know, since you won't be able to just purchase a stencil and pop it on there. You will have to draw it out first and really plan for it, so it will take more time. Which will be more time, which costs more.

I price the cake by the serving for basic designs, and add a flat fee for more intricate or time consuming designs. So, if it serves 100 covered in fondant it will be $425 plus a week's pay, for $800. So, $1225. Plus delivery. `````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````

60 ppl they want to feed or it serves 60ppl?

Cause it doesn't matter how many people they are feeding it matters the size of cake. I get that a lot..they want such and such size cake but they think because only x number of people are coming I'm only going to charge them for attendees..LOL..NOT

Sounds like he needs to scale down his expectations significantly.

Agreed on scaling down his expectations, unless you want to work for less than minimum wage.  Maybe one layer with the tattoo art would suffice?

AYou could print the bulk on sugar paper, in color, and highlight the edges and a few other areas to pop and to give it that hand painted look.

AIf your hand painting them both I would still charge the same amount but if you are going to do edible sheet on one hand paint the other I would charge way less charge $3.50 per slice for sheet more for hand painted 6"

Assuming the labor is due to the design's complexity and your efficiency is up to par, somewhere in the $500-600 range sounds about right.
