Our local Bulk Barn store (just opened! Very excited! But I digress...) carries a good selection of cake decorating supplies, including Kwik brand fondant (in buckets...not in bulk icon_biggrin.gif).  It's reasonably priced and comes in various colours.

I'd never heard of that brand, and I'm wondering if anyone has tried it before and if so, is able to provide a kwik review?  icon_razz.gif

Thanks!

We have a bulk barn here (its been open for about a year now).  I haven't tried the kwik brand yet... I am kind of married to satin ice and fondx. I did have them open one of the buckets for me to see what it felt like and it seemed to be really dry and stiff.... but I didn't get to knead it or play with it at all so hard to say.  the flavors seem interesting tho.  I tried virgin ice once which came in the same shape container and it was terrible. the black was dry and crack-y with streaks of blue in it. the white was so soft it kept pulling apart as I was trying to roll it out.  I am really interested to hear what any one else has to say.

AI've started using the Kwik in the 4 lb tubs and really like it! It's very pliable and handles well and the price is really reasonable. My only complaint about it is that fondant tends to get those little cracks on the corners of a cake, but mixing this with a bit of modelling chocolate seems to help with that.

I figure that at $4/lb, it makes more sense for me to buy this than make MFF a lot of the time because people STILL peel my fondant off a cake before eating it!!! So I see no point in wasting my time making tasty fondant when I can buy Kwik for just a tiny bit more

Thanks.  :-)

I used to use Satin Ice, and would still like to, but it's expensive to buy here, and buying it online isn't all that handy if you need it within a week.  So I've been making my own MMF.

I may try the Kwik for decor and figures, just to see what it's like.  It's nice to have an option.

I bought a 4lb bucket recently and am using it tonight to cover a cake.  I was dying some of it the other night and found it very easy to work with.  It did become a bit too pliable, possibly from the humidity, but that is easily fixed!

Anyone had issues with it holding colours?   I tinted my fondant light pink, and light purple and it turned into peach, and grey within a day.   It was the right color when I separated the tiers- so where it hadn`t dried any or maybe been exposed to light was the problem.

Otherwise I liked Kwik fondant.   It was easy to work with, not dry, and had a much better flavour and aroma.

AI havent had a problem with it holding color. Sounds like yours is fading in the light though! What brand of color are you using? Fading in one day seems really fast
