I have a cake coming up that has a baseball cap on the top. I would like to make it without using the ball pan, but can anyone give me some advice on how to go about doing so? I would make it out of gumpaste but not sure how to cut it and set it to dry in the shape it needs. Both cap and bill. Thank you!

The cake is going to be an 11 x 15 sheet carved into a diamond shape. There will be a hotdog, bag of peanuts, and a bag of popcorn on top of the cake, so it can't be too big.
