I know it's probably to early for me too be thinking about this, but I'm working towards my bachelors in Culinary and hope to graduate and open a bakery. I've had multiple loan offers from investors, but I'm only 20 and my parents feel that I should finish my education first. Anyways I've been sitting around all day, like I do everyday, contemplating on what to name my bakery. I really think Divine Delights is cute but I live in the bible belt and I've already had some negative comments made towards me on using the word Divine. I also really like Barbie's Couture Sweet Boutique. My name's Barbara and tons of people call me Barbie so I thought it may be a great fit. Would love feedback icon_biggrin.gif

AHi, I think that Barbie's Couture Sweet Boutique is a bit of a mouthful and I kind of like Devine Delights- remember that your customers will not always be religious especially if later on in the future you decided to franchise.

AIf a name alone is causing negative reactions in your target market it's probably time to throw it out. "Couture" is also a trendy word whose meaning has been diluted from overuse.

IMO the best way to come up a name is to focus on your competitive advantage first, then highlight that advantage in the name so it is immediately obvious to your target customers.

ADevine Delights is much easier. I am a formalwear designer by trade (cake decorator by passion) and "couture" is just the French word for "sewing". Haute Couture just means sewing done to a very high standard. I agree with Jason, pick something about your decorating that stands out or that you are particularly good at and work out a name from those inspiration. Good luck!

I agree with the statements above but I can't help but pitch in an idea: Cake Design by Barbie??? I don't know but I've always like the "by [insert name here]"
