Hiding Bumpy fondant....HELP!!! Please

Thread Starter

I am making a 3 tiered cake and the middle tier is made of choc-chocolate chip cake.....it's bumpy...WAAAAA! The theme of the cake is giraffe, zebra, and hot pink. It is also going to have a few hot pink gerber daisies on it. What can I do to the middle tier to hide the bumpiness and it still be cohesive to the theme....Thank you!

Giraffe or zebra cookies standing nose-to-tail around that tier.

The daises around the side of that tier.

Choc chips dotting the outside of that tier.

Thick rustic buttercream for that tier.

Can you recover it, and make sure your icing underneath is super smooth?

If not, fondant giraffe spots or zebra stripes would cover well, and maybe save the flowers for a different tier?

Can you make that tier zebra print and put black stripes over the worst bumpy bits? Or even use the giraffe pattern?
When I have bumpy fondant and am doing flowers I just cover the whole tier in flowers...maybe abit overboard for your design though!!

Textured mats or rolling pins! Hides the bumps every time! Just try to use a textureed mat that fits in with your theme. Good luck icon_smile.gif
