AI'm trying to replicate the pattern the bride has with the beading on her dress. It has what I would call a triple swag (3 lines all curved but meeting at the same points on the ends, if that makes sense). I've travelled to do this cake for a friend and didn't bring my Wilton garland maker, and can't get a hold of another one by the time I need it. I also thought I could just draw one out freehand and then use it as a guide to get the exact same throughout the cake, but I just can't draw it even. I also tried using cups like I read in some other threads, this also doesn't work because they all need to be different curves.

It is a fondant cake and I thought I would lay the template over the fondant and mark with a pin, then pipe over.

Any suggestions or templates would be great.

I recently saw a video where they used half of a plastic disposable cup (cut in half vertically) so it could be squeezed to the curve and diameter needed for the swag line.  Haven't tried it but I hope that helps. 

What I have done is use adding machine paper to make a template for swags.  I cut a strip that raps around the cake and then fold the paper in half (making a crease), fold that in half, and that in half...until you get the number of swags you want.  Then I use a round cutter and mark a half circle and cut it out.  Unfold the paper and pin it to the cake.  Not only will you have a good guide for the swags, they will all be the same size and evenly spaced with little effort.  Works great for doing ruffled swags too.
