6 tier wedding cake

help and advice please.

 

Making a 6 tier wedding cake. But cakes are two 12 inch, two 9 inch, and two 6 inch. In between each of the cakes the same size will be pillared and then filled with flowers. 

 

I have been researching the sfs and sps system, but really do think that this huge cake should have one long dowel through all tiers. And it seems that these systems don't do this.

 

Ideally this needs to be delivered already assembled.

 

Construction advice needed please.

You can NOT deliver a cake with separations already assembled.  Not with SFS or SPS system.  It's just asking for a disaster.   With SPS all the supports will be in the cakes and when you get onsite, you'll set the cakes onto the plates.  That will take all of 1 minute.  Then you have to stuff the flowers into the separations.  That it what will take time.  And it will take 2 - 3 times as many flowers as you think.

Thankyou. Would the assembly of the tiers on delivery include gluing (rather royal icing, or double sided carpet tape) the cakes onto their stands? Worried about it wobbling due to its size of 6 tiers.

 

The Florist is happy to do the flowers on the day.

 

The reason i wanted this cake delivered assembled is the wedding cake is for my wedding.

 

I have already made 3 tier cakes, some simply stacked one on top of the other, and others separated with pillars. 

 

Really was just hoping there was some method of assembling the cake that would work that i didn't know about. And was hoping this sfs/ sps system might of been that. So as to avoid assembly on the day.

Well, yes, you would smear a little royal or chocolate onto the SPS plate and set the cake tier (already on its board) onto the plate.  done.  If this takes more than 2 minutes, you're doing it wrong.

 

And let's not confuse sfs with SPS.  Two different systems, two different names, two different manufacturers and two very different costs.

Thankyou. I will have to re think or try and persuade someone to assemble on site.

 

Do you think the cake would be ok if i delivered it the night before? I usually refrigerate cakes and remove the morning it needs to be delivered.
