Sand!!

i'm going to be making a beach cake and I want it to look like there is sand on it. what is the best way to accomplish this?

I like a mix of caster sugar, brown sugar and plain tea biscuits, I use Arnotts Marie biscuits.  Put in a food processor and pulse until it looks like sand.  You need to play around with the ratios a little depending on what type of sand you want ie for a darker wet looking sand add more brown sugar, for a lighter dry looking sand - more caster sugar and biscuits.

Crushed Graham crackers and sugar (Brown, white, both; whatever you have on hand) works well too

Toasted white cake crumbs.

Life begins at 325° F, and, yes, that IS powdered sugar in my hair.

I use a mix of vanilla wafers and 1 single oreo. It gives it a nice texture. Hope it helps!!
