Has anyone got a decent recipe that doesn't taste of anything but vanilla and is not dense?

I have tried recipes requiring orange juice or oil + water but they are either dense or taste awful.

I have also been on a hunt for a good egg-less recipe.  I have tried this one:

it is made with condensed milk.  I made it for my dads birthday cake (trying new recipes on my family) and they couldn't even tell it was egg-less. I'm looking for one that is a little more moist though, but still the best one I have tasted so far.

there's also this one I came across.  I haven't tried it yet, but I will soon.  It uses custard powder.
