Hi I am doing a rainbow theme for my daughters 2nd birthday. What would be a good buttercream to use either (store bought or made) Can you recommend some fondant?. I was also thinking of decorating cake with fondant along with strips of fondant in chevron shape strips. How far in advance should I start prepping? Night before or the day of? Also what are the best candy melts to use for cake pops?

AFor the chevron pattern, I'd use modeling chocolate. Super easy to make and will not move around as much as fondant. You can use white melting chips and color it yourself.

For fondant, try making it yourself. It's easy. Both recipes you can find in the search.

I'd prep 4 days ahead of time. Doing the day of is asking for trouble.
