I am making some vegan cupcakes for a family member that requested them for a baby shower. I have looked up numerous threads on Cake Central regarding the matter and most people seem to use regular powdered sugar in their recipe, which is not vegan.
I tried to make vegan powdered sugar using Florida Crystals vegan sugar and cornstarch, but was unable to get it anywhere close as fine as store-bought regular powdered sugar.
The end result is a "buttercream" that tastes good, but is very grainy. It also is not white at all because the sugar is kind of tan colored.
Has anyone else used this type of truly vegan buttercream and been able to pipe with it?
