Friday Night Cake Club called to order! Come on in and tell us what you're working on!

I know I opened a little early this tonight but I'm coloring several shades of green and blue fondant for a cake and I was between colors...I'm almost done, though, so I'll be back in a bit!

Hi Elcee, Yes, was surprised to see it open, but its Mother's Day.  Am taking a break from all my cake pop roses and other goodies.

I get 2 Mother's Day.  Today is Mexican (an anybody other Hispanic culture) Mother's Day and then on Sunday our own.  So its a double whammy for me.

Cakes are all done, Lots of 6"'s,  chocolate filled cups, cookies, push pops & now just these monster cake pop roses.

Not sure why I took on so much work Mother's day weekend. But I'm having fun doing it.  I usually do fondant lettering on my cakes, but tonight, I'm piping everything. Not sure why I picked this week to be crazy. Piping lettering in red on a white cake? Yep, I'm insane, especially when I have the worst handwriting ever.

Next week I'll be back to punching out all my letters with Tappits, because I am ruining my cakes with my piping.

I'm doing a mother's day cake with cupcakes, a 1st communion cake, and a 3rd birthday skylander's portal cake. Done with #1, about to finish up #2, and the skylander's cake will get done tomorrow.

Have a great night!

I'm doing a 4th birthday cake for Sunday, 8" chocolate and 10" inch vanilla, with fondant grass wrapped around it, and some flowers and bugs attached. The last layer is in the oven right now, and these are the decorations I made yesterday.

Hi guys, I'm exhausted already listening to what you have lined up. tdove you are very brave (?) piping red on white.  I have spent the week playing with those cabbage roses that Maggie Austin makes.  They look acceptable and will probably look better when they have been airbrushed as they are just white at the moment.

This is my stoned giraffe, that looks more like a baby dragon, and my Viking fairy that I made at my workshop the other week.  Fun times.  Have a good week everyone.

cazza1: I think he looks like a giraffe- he's just a bit loopy. Call it a sugar high. lol

I'm making calla lilies for a cake next Friday. It's going to be cool and wet here so I want plenty of time for them to dry.

I tried making gelatin gummies today and so far, so good. I don't know if they'll stand up to heat, humidity, and hanging, though. I only have a week to experiment with it then I have to start on the cake for it. I need something that looks like blood dripping from an arm and hand. I tried Sugarveil but I was a total failure with that this week. I'll have to try it again some other time.

Wow! You all are busy! I'm working on a fishing themed cake for a 4 year old. All the little pieces are done, river rocks, cat o' nine tails, goldfish, frogs, and ducks. Cake is torted, filed, iced and ready for fondant and decorating in the morning.

Auntginn, happy 1st Mother's Day!

tdovewings, I keep saying I need to practice my piping but never seen to get around to actually doing it. It's been a long time since I wrote on a cake.

kikiandkyle, I just love it when all the little pieces of the cake are ready to go and it's time to start decorating.

cazza1, your figures are adorable!

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's cakes!

Do you have time to get to a Michael's or Joanne's? The Wilton plastic tubes are compatible with the SPS plates. I used them when my cake was a little too short and it was fine. Good luck!

Good Evening everyone!

My week is INSANE! I Should have known better but I never seem to learn.. haha. I was well prepared I think though. Going to be somewhat of a long night, but i work better at night.

I do cupcake promos every time a holiday of some sort comes around, so I have 15 doz standard and I think like 20 dozen minis... I don't even know anymore. I also have 18 angry birds, 18 owls and 24 elephant cupcakes. Elephant cupcakes have a 6" cake, Daisy flower Pot cake, Red Velvet 6" Mom's day cake AND that's all for tomorrow. All of the toppers are made, I just have to get my butt in gear and start frosting those darn cupcakes. AND I had a Zebra/Cheetah party for today as well. That is gone  though, thankfully:)

Cazza: Those figures are awesome!

Kikiandkyle: Hope I catch the final product on here. I usually try to make it back Saturdays and Sundays but sometimes my mind gets away with me.

Elcee: Can't wait to see it

Just finished two cookie platters (about 14 cookies each) for a grandpa's 70th/young lady's 16th.  These are freebies, which I spent abou 12 hours decorating!   Each one is custom cut and decorated.  Golf for Grandpa and Car/keys/tennis/etc for young lady.  I am very pleased with them, just have to put messages on the center plaque cookies, and plate them up in the morning.

One of these days, I need to learn to decorate sitting down, 'cause my legs they do hurt tonight!!

My and I thought I was busy....

Ella, beautiful cakes, and sound yummy too.

Icubed - Post some pics 12 hrs to decorate cookies, no wonder I don't do cookies.

Brettley... they are beautiful

Here is another pic of my roses.  I won't be doing them next mother's day.  They take too much time.

Great to see what you are all up to.

Icubed sitting helps enormously but make sure you have a good stool or your back will pay for it.  I used to stand far to much until I converted my sewing room into a cake room.  This week I went and bought  a new chair (without arms) so I can swivel from one side of my table to the other without twisting my back all the time and roll on the castors.  Making my roses was much more pleasant than when I started them last week on a static chair.  Interestingly I could not buy a plain round stool on castors but had to buy a computer chair.  I thought round stools would be really common.

Hey, I just realised we are having Mother's Day together.  Anyone from other countries celebrating Mother's Day this Sunday.  I have noticed that quite often out special holidays like this do not coincide.

Ella: I LOVE your chocolate shavings. The cake sounds very yummy. I have tried to get the curl and still haven't mastered it yet. Maybe someday, and when I do, I am sure I will put them on everything!

Auntginn: I agree, roses are very time consuming. That one looks awesome!

Cazza: That is absolutely brilliant! I am just in the middle of building a licensed kitchen in our basement, and I have a custom-made moveable island but I never even thought of a moving chair.  I am so buying that for myself for my birthday.

This is what I have been up all night doing... I just finished... It is 4:15am where I live in BC, Canada.  This might be my favorite cake so far. Thank you to all the lovely ideas I gathered from this community of creative geniuses!!  This is coconut cake with mango buttercream and raspberry lemonade cake with vanilla buttercream.  It's hard to see but the entire thing has been airbrushed with edible pearl sheen.

ASo, this was my week from hell. I honestly even forgot it was Mother's Day until someone told me in Thursday.

As some of you know, we moved. This was my first real week in the new house.

This week is very popular in Charleston. Weddings, graduations, & the usual birthdays. I committed to 2 grooms cakes, a graduation cake, a birthday cake, & a 5 tier weddin cake with brush embroidery & replicated dress detail. Exhausted.

Also, this is one if those weeks I kinda wish I was a but more anonymous here. I could tell a story!!

This was a last minute grooms cake. Sunday! Very humid here in charleston. Had to do those gears 3 times!

Wow loving all the pics in here,

everyone has been busy this week , I am too tired to upload the camera , I have done a Winnie the Pooh themed cake , for the worst client ever , I actually threatened to cancel her order . A three tiered wedding cake including , bride , groom , cat and two dogs. The last one was a carved wooden jewelry box . I think that was actually my favourite.

Well I am off to bed now I have been up since before five and it is now nearly 10pm. Everyone here has been fed , watered and medicated. ( not necessarily in that order). I will come back tomorrow and have a proper look at all the pics . Goodnight .

AThe College Of Charleston has a wonderful tradition. The very first day, students pass through the Cistern gate to write their names in the register. Upon graduation, they have another ceremony of passing through the gate. It was perfect inspiration for this cake:

I'm usually so meticulous about names. Not everyone can spell Laney correctly so I'm sensitive to it. Well this was a last minute order yada yada yada. Had to redo top to correct spelling.

Kvand your cake is stunning.  I bet you are feeling great about it.

Delicious you have exhausted me.  If we weren't running 2 hours behind Chelle I would be following her to bed. I must confess that I don't really get the whole steam punk look but you did a great job.

Chelle we look forward to seeing your cakes when you have the energy to upload them, especially to see the Winnie the Pooh one after all the drama.

Wow everyone's cakes look amazing, making me feel like such an amateur (technically I am since I don't sell my cakes!).

I'll post when the cake is done later tonight.

You might look for 'doctors stool' when looking for a backless stool on wheels. That's what they're most commonly sold as. I have a computer chair at my dining table as that is where I work the most - ugly but much easier on the back than a dining chair.
