Bride changed her mind last minute.

I have a 4 tier wedding cake for next weekend.

All buttercream

12" Rosette tier

10" Smooth Iced

8" Rosette tier

6" Smooth Iced

When she booked the cake she wanted to add ribbons to it.  Striped ribbon to be exact.  Lime green and black.

Her mother was with her and told her that she thought it would be too much.  I didn't say much, just that I thought it would be beautiful without it because the rosette's are a statement by themselves.

She chose not to add ribbon and told me that she was purchasing the topper and would bring it to me.

I called her last night to ask if she had purchased the topper as I have not heard back from her.  She said she decided to go with fresh flowers on the top and that she changed her mind about the ribbon and would like me to put it on the 8" and 6" tiers.

I know that this is her cake and I should prepare it like she wants, but I just think this is going to be awful.  Way to much going on.  I always have trouble with cakes that I don't like.

Several years ago, I had a bride and groom order a cake that I thought was going to be ugly.  I did what they requested and took a picture for my album.  That cake seems to be one of everyone's favorite!  (They bought a tacky topper - so I took pictures before adding the topper.)  You never know - it may be fine!

Do you guys seem to have more problem with the cakes you don't like?  That's what worries me.  Every single time I do a cake I don't like, I stress over it so bad.  Sometimes to the point that I can't sleep.   I'm already stressing over it and it's not even this weekend.  GRRR!

Is it fabric ribbon or fondant? Could you take it with you to the venue and let them decide if it should go on or not after seeing the rest of the cake finished?

The ribbon would make more sense on the 10 and 6 smooth tiers.  I think that would look fine.
