Hi everyone. Hope this post finds you all well.

I have been asked by a friend to decorate her wedding cake (I'm not making it). She wants something like this

http://cakecentral.com/g/i/2384919/b-w-stripe-3-tier-8-x6-6-x6-4-x6-the-fondant-is-wrapped-around-each-tier-with-the-stripes-already-on-bows-half-fondant-and-gumpaste-tfl/sort/upload_time/

I'm not sure how to do a couple of things - firstly, I'm worried the stripes aren't going to be perfect when I cut them out - they sometime aren't exactly straight. I have a cutter but when I lift them to place them on the cake they stretch and there can be print marks on them.

I am also unsure how to place them on the cake in perfectly straight lines.

This cake is so simple, I have a feeling it's going to be difficult to get right.

Have any of you any suggestions on how I can get perfectly straight stripes on a cake perfectly straight?!?!? I'm worried the colour will bleed and I can't fix it!

Thanks so much in advance

Jo x

I saw this tutorial in the forums, can not remember which one (so much info on this site) hope it helps. I saved it as a pdf on my computer.

When I do stripes like you need....I first sprinkle powdered sugar on the area...then cut the strip...then sprinkle more powdered sugar on the strip I have cut.  Then I start at one end and roll it up.   Then take the roll to the cake and unroll...Never stretches that way.

In that photo, the description says the stripes were already on the fondant and then the fondant wrapped around. Might be an option.

Here's one more, a little different from the other tutorial, it's all one piece/sheet of fondant and then you size up the width of your stripes, if you want them wider.
