I'm supposed to make a cello cake at the end of the month for a final concert where my daughter is going to play with her schoolmates. could any of you help me? I'm worried especially about the neck.
Make a cardboard template and then cut out cake. You are right about the neck... I think I would make that out of rice krispie treats/. Are you planning on laying it down flat? Cause if it has to be upright I would make the whole thing out of rice krispies and put it on top of sheet cake decorated with a music score and notes Are you planning on doing the strings out of whip licorice ( those long string of licorice)
hi, how nice to see someone can help me - and someone skilled too!!! thank you. Yes, I will lay the cello on a tray. how should I use the rice crisps? melted with what? I think i will make the small bits with pastillage but I'm wondering how to fix the the two parts composing the neck together ( the one in contact with the strings will be of pastillage, the other ???). I'm so glad that even if we are so far you can be so helpful. thank you very much. It was nice to read that after enjoying children you can now enjoy bakery. I'll keep reading you . thanks again anna maria presenti
Ooh this sounds like a great fun project :-)
For rice krispies you mix 3 cups with 10 oz marshmallows melted in a microwave or SLOWLY in a non stick pan, wet your hands with a little water when shaping it as it's really sticky then when it's set you can trim with a sharp knife to get the nice clean edges you want. you can attach fondant to it with melted chocolate.
If you want to look around for more tips on using it google RKT (Rice Krispie Treat).
Best of luck; can't wait to see your cake!
