Stack Or Decorate First?

Hello,

I have done a handful of wedding cakes but am still pretty new to the whole process. I am doing a wedding cake soon which is two layers, a 10 inch round and a 6 inch round. Each layer will be 6 inches tall. The bottom layer will be covered with cream fondant and then covered with ombre fondant ruffles moving from cream to turquoise. The top layer will be covered in red fondant and then covered with lots of red fondant flowers. My question is whether it would be best to decorate everything first and then stack the cakes or to stack the cakes first and then do the detail work? I guess I am just concerned about the possibility of any of the red decorations falling onto the cream of the bottom layer while I am decorating. I attached a picture of the general look I am going for.

Stack first, then add the details.  I'd be too worried about squishing the details when moving and stacking the layers otherwise.
