I swear I've made this before, where you add butter flavoring (and almond and vanilla) I thought it was crisco and powdered sugar but now I can't find the recipe. Does anyone have a good one?
If you use Wilton's recipe they call for vanilla flavor, sugar, meringue powder, and water...if you need butter taste with no butter lol I've used butter flavor and I use milk instead of water...the recipe should be on their website, I haven't used it in years tho'. Hope that helps
Am.wilton.com/recipes/recipe.cfm?alias=Class-Buttercream-Icing-Stiff-Consistency This says it makes a stiff consistency buttercream just add in more milk in a tablespoon at a time until you get the consistency desired. If you use high ratio shortening it makes it better
Thanks, I've never used meringue powder before. I'm really just looking for a stable filling that will be inside of a fondant covered cake. You think doing a regular 1/2 crisco 1/2 butter buttercream would be okay? I have a 3-hr drive to take it to our party and want it to be ok.
AIn the directions on that recipe it says that you don't have to use meringue powder. I'm not sure if I personally would use butter right now as it warms up outside butter melts easier than shortening so if it were me I personally wouldn't use butter but that's just me. You are gonna want the AC on in the car on your trip too.
That's exactly what I was thinking, I live in Nebraska and the weather changes by the hour so I definitely want something that won't melt! Thanks for reassuring me! I feel so much better
AThere are people on here that will tell you an all butter buttercream would be just fine it really is just personal choice.
