AHey all, I am VERY new to the baking world but got super hooked after I made my little girls 1st birthday cake (I didn't make the topper - not that brave!) Anyways I now want to my this but in a 2 tier version, I have the dowels (which I got 12 inch) and know I need card but I'm stuck on sizing!! An I right with 10" bottom & 6" top? Also thinking to get thickness I will need to double up, so cake - spread mascarpone / cream & jam - cake? Then repeat for top tier? Just worried that's not right, any advice would be much appreciated xxxxx

AI'm confused. Is the cake of drunk Barbie or at you Barbie & happen to be drunk?

The most common 2 tier is a 6" & 10". I also offer a 6" & 8".

I'm not sure what you mean about spreading marscapone. Do you mean torting & filling? My tiers are 2 2" cakes which are torted & filled. The end up being 4" tall.

I'm also confused about your dowels. You mentioned 12" dowels. You will need support between the tiers even if you use a long center dowel that goes between both. The support will need to be dowels on the bottom tier, plate or board then top tier.

Hope this helps.

AThat's how confused I am, I can't even begin to properly explain what I want haha! Thank you for responding ! The drunk Barbie is an idea I got from a friend who found this picture on the Internet I liked the idea but had already decided in a pink 2 tier cake. The mascarpone / jam is the filling - i practiced my cake last night, I have no idea of the sizes but I made the 2 sponges added filling and then done the same to the top tier. I have bought 12in dowel (plastic sticks to me) which were way to big so I chopped them to size. To be honest everything was to big, you could hardly see the difference in my top tier and as I wanted pink frosting rather than icing it looks messy :( here is take 1: (be kind I'm very new to this) Thanks so much for your comments :) xx
