AYay. Friday Night Cake Club?!? I'm new to the site so this is the first time I've heard of this! I'll check in sooner next time to see what everyone else is working on. I know most of you are sleeping by now but I'm burning the midnight oil...well beyond that really!

I'm gonna go ahead and vent anyway. I'm wide awake and plan on being up another hour or so thanks to all the awesome rain we've had here in Florida. The power went out not long after I laid down the baby just as I was walking to the freezer to pull out my cakes! I felt like I was being punked!! (If you are familiar with the old show?) I was freaking out because although I had all my BC made and cakes ready to roll I was needing to make the MMF so it could rest over night. This is where the panic crept in since I had never made the recipe before and didn't have enough Wilton fondant. I opted for a cat nap so I could pull an al nighter. I'm happy to report the MMF is delicious, I made 3 batches of it just to be safe. I hope it rolls out beautifully tomorrow. Now I am going to stack and ice my 2 tiers and go back to bed.

Oh I guess I should mention that I am making a graduation cake for an older college grad so it will be sleek and classy in white and navy blue. Customer requested the top to be "quilted" and that's something I've never done before, as long as it goes well ill be smooth sailing.

Evening all, it is Saturday night here now . I hope everyone's cakes all got done .

Elcee, I would be most annoyed and a little bit flattered . I wouldn't let them get away with it though.

AuntGinn, Happy Birthday . With over 50 members in our cake club , we all make sure that no one has to make their own birthday cake.  We had a 50th birthday party this week for one of the girls , we supplied the cake and as one of our members has his own cafe we took that over for lunch and had a great party , the other diners enjoyed the entertainment as our president's husband has a lovely tenor voice and he did a few numbers for us .

OT , what a fun cake , it looks great

Nicole , I hope you got some sleep and your fondant rolls out beautifully , I have never made my own fondant , I just don't have that much spare time , I don't use buttercream either as I find ganache so much quicker and easier, I hate cleaning up after buttercream and I have been known to tell clients that if they want buttercream then I am not their decorator.

Cazza , I hope you are not getting too overcome with the fumes of the varnish. The smell of paint and varnish always reminds me of my late Father , He was a painter , he smelled like paint, varnish, turps and poppy hair oil .

I had a two tier wedding cake this week , Butterscotch mud on the top, with salted caramel ganache and  raspberry and white chocolate with dark chocolate and raspberry ganache on the bottom ,

A beautiful, elegant cake Chelle.  I am sure the bride will be rapt.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AuntGinn.  Wanted to wait till you were in bed so when you read this it would be your birthday.

Welcome to TheLoveofSugar.  I really enjoy Friday night Club (or Saturday really here in Australia).  It's nice to have a bit of personal contact with the people on this site rather than just answering questions.

First of all, AuntGinn: Happy Birthday!

Elcee: Its amazing the nerve of some people eh? Like everyone else already stated, I would definitely post on her wall publicly and let everyone know that she stole your pic! And trying to pass it off as her own! I don't get people like that .. what happens when your amazing cake gets her a paying customer, then she sucks at the actual cake that SHE has to make? Silly people...

TheLoveofSugar, the FNCC convenes every week. Even if I don't participate, I like to check in on Saturday to see what everyone was up to. What an awful feeling to lose your power when youstill need your mixer! You handled it like a champ, though. Come back and post a picture when it's finished.

Chelle, I had to ask twice and the second time I threatened to report her to Facebook and she then removed it. Your cake club sounds fun. Ours is very small and not very active, unfortunately, although we do put on a fabulous cake show every year! Your cake is lovely.

Oh and to OTcakes and ChellesCakes, I love both of your cakes !! (used the word "cakes" 3 times there, yikes haha)

Love the fun carnival themed one with popcorn..perfect for a kid's birthday, I'm sure your daughter will love it.

And Chellescakes, those flowers are stunning! I love purple .. I want a cake like this for my birthday lol party.gif

TheLoveOfSugar .. I'm in the Bahamas and we had all that crazy rain too, power outages. Which I'm used to since it happens a LOT whenever there's thunder and lightning involed. Glad you were able to get your MMF made, and I hope your cakes turn out just how you want them to.

Baking Me Crazy,  At the Reply Box on top their is a tool bar of sorts.  It has an icon that says "insert image"  when you click on it, it will give you the choice of images from your gallery or another source.  Choose your pic and click on select.  I also always choose "small image"

Happy Birthday AuntGinn what a beautiful cake.

Glad this week is over, another busy week ahead. I think I'm going to do some trial runs of my cake recipes to see  what was going wrong with my cake texture this week. I wondering if my oven temp is off, or if it is really one of the ingredients.

As promised here are the pictures from this week. My son's school had an auction, and I did the cupcake display for dessert. Their school mascot is a Pine tree and the art teacher designed a special sassy pine tree for the Pinecrest Studios movie themed auction night, and I replicated it as one of the cupcake toppers. I hate being at events where my cake is served because I fear someone eating it next to me and being displeased.  Needless to say, everyone loved the cupcakes. They ordered 100 cupcakes and 100 cupcake toppers, and I made 150 cupcakes because they told me the guest count was 115 the night before and not a single cupcake was left. There were a handful of people that didn't get any and I felt so bad. Should I have made even more? Next year they want me to do a cake for live auction. I don't think I can handle that. If I do it, I'll have to leave before that starts.

I also had a small birthday cake where the customer had an edible image and they just wanted a border on the cake. This one was weird because they were going to pick the cake up, called and said they were on their way.  Five minutes later they called back and said they were running late and there was no way they could pick the cake up and wanted it delivered to them. Who does that? I'd never had that happen before, but it just so happens I was on my way to run an errand right across the street from where they would be, so I did it and charged them a rush delivery fee. I'm still scratching my head on that one.

I wouldn't care if and only if she states that she didn't do the cake and just like the picture. I personally only post cakes I did. I have friends "Tag" me in pictures all the time of cakes I did not do. They are nice to see but I always remove the tag. I do not wish to post pictures on my page of things I did not do. But if someone wanted to use mine I wouldn't care if they weren't trying to take the credit.
