I need to make a 3 tier cake, I want to put fondant and accents on it, should I just buttercream it than stack it or should I put all the fondant on first then stack it?? Any help or ideas would be great!

You would crumb coat each tier.  I then chill mine in the refrigerator for awhile or overnight.  You put the fondant on each tier before you stack the cakes.

Just wanting to clarify.  You do mean covering the whole tier with fondant and then adding decorations, correct?  Or did you mean buttercream tiers with fondant accents?  If all fondant, then you need to put fondant on each tier first before stacking.

You can do it either way.  Some people want the whole cake covered in fondant and others don't.  It will depend on the design, what the people want and the budget for the cake.  You can add fondant or gumpaste embellishments.  Don't forget to dowel the tiers to give you stability.

Yes it will all be covered in fondant, it is a multi themed sports cake so every tier would be different. I just wasn't sure if I had to stack than fondant or do each layer at a time then stack it.

Thanks so much for all your tips!

Do the second. Fondant each tier, then stack.

cover in fondant first then stack the tiers

However, you do not need to decorate each tier before stacking.  You can do that after you have it all stacked.  Again, just wasn't sure if that was clear from what I and others have said.
