HELP! How do I make marbled fondant to look like "outer space"?

Hello all of you amazingly talented bakers.

I have a cake for this weekend that is Star Wars themed.

I wanted to have the bottom two tiers covered in fondant to resemble outer space and was thinking of using fondant colors black, navy, royal and white. I would like the effect to be similar to this picture but I think with less white:

My question is if I'm gong to use 4 colors, do you think it should be equal parts of each color, or should I use more black and navy with 1/2 the amount of royal and white?  And, does it matter which colors I lie next to each other when starting the marbling process?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Don't overmix or you'll lose the effect you want! If you want a bolder effect, put the light colors next to the dark colors when you start, if you want more muted, put dark next to dark. Fold and knead until you get the desired effect, I did a space theme for one of my kiddos last year and used blue, black and white. Turned out really neat! :)

And what I have found whenever I marble, is that when you flip the fondant over after rolling it out, that the underside actually has the better look.

Thanks for the advice. I will give it a try. It's just one of those things that once you are committed, there is no going back and you can not "undo" it. I will post a pic when it is done.

Thanks again.
