Buttercream Cake With Fondant Decorations?

Hello there,
I am planning on making a Noah's Ark cake. I want to make the ark from rice krispies covered in fondant, with possibly fondant animals, or maybe modeling chocolate animals and place all of this onto a buttercream iced cake. Do you think the fondant touching the buttercream will start to soften to much? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
I often cover my cakes in buttercream and then fondant and have never had a problem with the fondant melting. I always have melted chocolate in my buttercream though so it never has a sticky surface, and so I'm not quite sure how it works if the buttercream has a sticky surface. Maybe you can make a small batch of buttercream and put a piece of fondant on it and see what happens?
AI use all buttercream on my cakes and fondant decorations. My buttercream is a crusting recipe and I have no problem with melting issues. Sometimes I let my fondant crust before attaching decorations and sometimes not. If it has crusted I will use a little piping gel to attach and if its not a heavy piece just a little sugar glue or even a dab of my buttercream on it will make it stick just fine.
