Hi

I am looking for ideas on how to make a royal icing alligator. It will go on a cupcake (actually almost 200 cupcakes). Because of the large number of cupcakes, I want to be able to do as much ahead of time as I can.

Fancy Flours has the perfect alligator but I want try and make them myself before buying.  Here they are: http://www.fancyflours.com/product/Icing-Safari-Alligators-Set-of-18

Or plan B is to make chocolate alligators using a mold and putting them on the cupcakes.

Thanks!

ACheck out Montreal confections videos on YouTube. She has some tutorials on figure piping royal icing transfers. She doesn't do alligators, just bears I believe, but it would be a good place to start.

I'd only go the chocolate route if you can find a mold with at least 10-12 alligators on it or want to buy multiple molds. It'll take forever to do 200 if you can only do a few at a time, ESP if you're painting/piping details into the mold.

Good luck!
