I have agreed to make monthly birthday treats for a music group. I need some fresh ideas for really impressive, fancy, but "forkless" treats tht also will be relatively uncomplicated to make, since I will be paid only appreciative thank yous for any of these. So far I've done some cupcakes (Valentine's Day and fresh orange flavor spring/Easter themes) and trays of mint oreo truffles. Now these sweet people expect a lot!!! (What a compliment!!) Any ideas, especially for my next treat which will be May/spring/flower (?) themed. (thinking of hand painted flower sugar cookies but that doesn't sound really creative!) Thanks!
The only thing I would even consider is a cake ball type thing, made from left over cake top and icing. but I would not do all the rolling and dipping, just scoop, and drop, and drizzle with almond bark, unless I could find something cheaper! Maybe a chocolate drop cookie, or peanut butter cookie... I have no idea what I would do that is creative, for free, on a monthly basis...Oh, wait, yes I do, nothing! lol.
This sounds like you enjoy the work, but want some impressive ideas.
As long as the numbers are low, you can do some decorative cookies. The novelty wears off when you aren't getting paid.
Other ideas are to do really good bar cookies, cheesecake made in a pan and cut into squares, gourmet brownies, excellent coffee cakes, baklava, napoleons, eclairs or cream puffs.
If you do these simply and well, you can impress your friends and still keep your sanity with the workload.
Thanks for th ideas...something cheesecake-y kind of strike my fancy. Only need to do about 4 - 5 dozen, depending on how big they are.

Wow! Is anyone else bringing in treats/food or just you? You are way nicer than I would be to do it for free every month. I had one lady ask me if I could always bring in a custom cake like the one that I did before. This was also for a monthly meeting. My response was "How about we share in splitting the cost, time and effort so everyone can have a chance to bring in something nice? Would you like to do it next month"? She never said another word about it again.
Dip jumbo marshmallows in chocolate, and roll it in crushed smarties or oreo, or graham crackers! anything small that will stick easy, and be easy to chew! haha. :)
