Sturdy Structure For A Standing Cake
Decorating By TheBakingNurse Updated 15 Apr 2013 , 6:23pm by TheBakingNurse
AI am going to attempt a kneeling caillou cake for my sons birthday. I plan on using (4) 8" rounds for the body, styrofoam or rkt for the head and rkt and modeling chocolate for the arms and legs. I am not sure how to set up the frame/ structure to hold the cake, head, arms! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
I would use plumbing pipe screwed to the board with a floor flange for the legs you can slide a pvc pipe over that so that it is food safe. Then you could cover the pipe with RKT. You would then need to attach another board on top of the pipes for the body. Hope that makes sense!
Here is a tutorial I found that may help

AI appreciate it. This is what I'm going for

That will be so cute! Looking at the sketch actually you may be able to get away with one pipe screwed to the board with a floor flange and the cover with PVC. The whole cake would just sit on the board and you could carve a little indentation into the middle of the bottom part for the legs. Then finish up the legs with RKT. Don't know if that makes any sense at all but just a thought!! Good luck I'm sure it will turn out great
