How come my cake boards are not the same size as my cake when I place it on my cake board? I use the same size 6" cake board and 6" cakepan. My cake boards are to big. Anyone else have this prob?
It isn't actually a problem. Once you put your icing on the cake it matches the cake cardboard. You can use your blade or spatula and use the cardboard as a guide that helps make sure your icing is even. Hope that makes sense.
ACakes shrink slightly when they cool. It's no big deal and I do what the previous poster does and use it as my icing guide. Most people do that I thnk.
Thanks for the info! There is about a 3/4" of the board still showing around the cake. Even after I crumb coat it and put frosting.
AWow, that is a lot of shrinkage and space. Most cakes are about 1/4 inch or less (on each side) smaller than the board before they're iced. Might want to trim your board next time.
yeah it sure is...but yeah i think i will have to cut my boards....thanks for replying! :)
ATake your cake board and flip your pan over so that its upside down and place the board on it and see if it's the same size as your pan. If it is the same size you'll at least know that its your cake shrinking to much. If the pan and cake board don't match up than you might have bought the wrong size boards.
