Is there a way to make words out of icing and have them harden... then move them to the cake??

Please help. icon_smile.gif

Yes you can make them out of royal icing. Find a font you want to use that all the words that you want to put on the cake , print out the font page than place wax paper over the font paper than take your bag of royal icing and pipe over the font letters that you are gonna put on the cake. Make sure to make extra because they break easily .

Hmm I have never done it but you could try to pipe them on waxed or parchment paper and then freeze them.  I have done them in white chocolate before and it works great.  Here is a pic:

You can do royal icing letters weeks in advance you just need to store them in a cool dry place out of sunlight.

I just used the cheapo Wilton Candy Melts.  You can pipe them as far in advance as you want to-just keep them covered.  Yeah you can do a lot with white chocolate or candy melts, including making snowflakes!

The only thing I don't know about royal icing is whether or not the dry decorations will hold up for a while on a buttercream cake.  You might want to do some experimenting.

It does... especially on BC display dummies!

Thanks for clearing that up-royal is definitely not something I work with on a regular basis so that's good to know.
