ALiving in the south, this was bound to happen.

Any suggestions on how to get the look of seersucker? I'm thinking tiny fondant stripes but need something or the texture.

An old CC thread recommended an impression mat, but I couldn't find any to match. I also googled images, but haven't seen a successful reproduction.

It stuck in my mind because I was like, "WTH is seersucker???"

Would it work to use some bubbly shelf liner as an impression mat, then "iron out" the smooth stripes with an appropriately sized ball tool?

A

Thanks so much. That stuff is perfect for burlap. The seersucker needs to only go one direction & ripple. Thought about using the duffle technique but the stripes need to be so thin.

What about taking that white out tape stuff and making rows on the shelf liner, and then rolling your fondant over the prepared shelf liner and then painting in where it stays flat?

You might also be able to find super thin plastic tape at like a home depot place and that might be easier to get on there straight?

Thank you, CakeYouVeryMuch.  That might work for the plaid seersucker versions, but this is for a gentleman's suit which is usually just stripes:  http://www.gentlemansemporium.com/store/004148.php?gclid=CI2Tye6gvLYCFRMZnQodtUIArg

Would the ribbing on these place mats be fine enough to use as a template?
