I have been frustrated by the drag on my Xacto knife when cutting fondant and modeling clay - especially on detailed letters.  It causes a bit of distortion, which never looks quite right when I "fix" it.  I read somewhere that scalpels work better.  I was frustrated by the number of different ones available.  And some of them look VERY much like a standard Xacto.  So, now I'm wondering...are they really better?  If so, which ones work best for you?

Yes drag is always a problem isn't it!!  I just gently place a finger on the icing where I'm cutting to stop it from dragging and just work slowly.  It is very frustrating though.  Hmmm, medical scalpels sounds like a great idea, they'd have to be super sharp!
