Need advice on colors!

I'm going to make a cake that will be somewhat like this one:    http://cakecentral.com/g/i/2925573/a/3305154/6-8-fondant-and-gum-paste/

I need it to match the theme of this cd cover:  https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/jesus-lead-on/id622819542

I'm a little worried about how to do the colors.  I plan on doing the swirly piped roses on the bottom instead of the ruffle.  I would like to do an ombre color scheme.  I would make the top flower white, then do the piped flowers blending from white in an aqua blue going downward.

I know that isn't at all like the cd cover, but I really need to just fit in with the color scheme.  The CD cover is sort of a blend of colors, so that made me think of ombre....

My plan for the color is to use the same color gel and just vary its intensity on the flowers.  Is this a good way to achieve ombre?

I'm also a little worried about the color scheme against the black fondant.  In the original photo, the black on top with white on the bottom is very striking.  Will I ruin the cake by adding another color?  Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi there, are you making the cake tiers black? with the roses going from light to dark in blue? When I looked at the cd cover, a marble effect came to mind if you want to make the cake a litteral version. Otherwise why not make one layer in blue the other in green, and create your roses in white perhaps cascading down. just a thought

I would do the top of the cake in the royal blue that is on the top right corner of the album cover, then the piano as shown, then the ruffles/roses in the green, with maybe a diagonal splash of the turquoise at the bottom of one side.

I can picture what you are talking about and I like the idea of the Ombré affect against the white and white. My first thought is to do it with both roses but I am not sure if that would be too much
