I want to make a peacock cake and I want to seal the colors on the peacock permanently so I can keep it. I read about steaming them, but after it dries will I be able to touch it and not have the dust come off? I found an edible lacquer spray on line, but it is $30.00 a can.

Can I make this stuff my self?

TIA

I use this when I want to seal the colour on fondant http://www.globalsugarart.com/edible-glaze-spray-clear-by-pme-p-27834.html

Or you can get a bottle of the glaze and paint it on. Just search for confectioners glaze.

You can steam but there is chance that the colour can still come off.
