Hello

I am new here and I really appreciate all the feedback and topics provided by the members of the this site.

I am looking for help to find a good rate and price for home based insurance, I have registered my home business as LLC.

Is it enough to be registered as LLC without having insurance or do I still have to buy insurance.

I want to be able to sell cupcakes and cakes as a vendor at corporate business and state fair and carnivals.

please advise me with type of insurance you have for business and what is the coverage and how much it cost you? what is the name of insurance company you used?

p.s.  this is not a full time business - I work as a full time and I do this as a part time on the weekend

thank you so much

AAn LLC is a good safety net to protect your personal assets from business risk, but it will not protect the business from liability, so you still need insurance. State Farm and The Hartford both provide business liability coverage for small food businesses, you can also check out FLIP: http://www.fliprogram.com/

Premiums are usually in the $300-500/year range for $1-2M of coverage.

hi there,

i'm down in virginia beach and you've gotten further along than i have in the process....i'm sure someone will come along with a better answer than mine but i think you need business liability insurance.....you never know when someone will get sue happy.......

you can get a quote from whomever does your home owner's insurance or car insurance......i was talking to a lady not too long ago who happened to be an insurance agent and she mentioned she had given someone a quote of $38/month on a million dollar policy.....

hopefully someone else will give you better info.....
