AHi. I have been asked to make the cake for my parents 20th anniversary in June. The theme is emerald/white/silver, the cake needs to go with the theme too.
I have a few questions. 1. Is there a americolour emerald gel colour? Or what's closest? 2. How many tiers/size cake, will I need to serve 35 people? 3. If anyone has any cake ideas please I would love to see some examples?
I am just stumped for ideas, my mum hates flowers with the exception of gerberas. Its not a formal occasion really. So I don't want to go fancy over the top. I'm only a beginner decorator, but love making flowers and figures. Thats my strong point.
Any help/tips would be soo much appreciated!!
Thanks in advance. :-)
A 6x4 and 8x4 round will serve 36. If I was doing it for family I'd make at least a 6" and 9" or 10". If you don't have an assortment of colors to play with, I'm guessing leaf green would be your best bet. If you do, then put some water in several clear dishes, add a drop of the colors you want to try, mix and match until you get what you want. How about a 2-tier white cake with silver ribbon borders (fondant or actual ribbon), a white Gerber daisy with a pale emerald center, emerald foliage and a couple of buds? You could add coordinating GP ivy to dress it up. Another option for the silver is to make/purchase a silver "20" to use as a topper.
You could also make brooches out of sugar emeralds made from isomalt. (you can order those online from Global Sugar Art.) Making a brooch is sort of like making a flower in some ways.
AIf you do order from GSA make sure to use PayPal or call your order in there has been lots of threads on here where people have ordered from them using there credit card online and they end up having problems with unauthorized charges on there card months later.
