I'm trying to make a cake for my husbands birthday. His family normally eat tres leche cakes to they find  that typical American icings are too sweet for their taste. Some of my family don't lle tres leche cake but don't like buttercream either. What would be a good middle ground for a cake? What icing can I make that's not to sweet but still tasty?

AOk thanks ill look into those. I haven't made a a Swiss meringue buttercream in about 4 years. I've heard of tres leche being toped wih meringue so this should be a good middle ground . Thanks again
